About
Welcome to Glen Dirk Estate, a historic South African homestead set in the heart of the Constantia Vineyards. Whether you’re seeking a memorable family holiday or planning the wedding of your dreams, our estate offers the perfect setting. This magnificent homestead offers laidback Cape Town living. Stay at home, laze by the pool, enjoy lunch on the terrace and see Cape Town from a secret historic mountainside retreat, set on the southern tip of Africa.
Easily able to comfortably fit a family of 9, or a party of friends – 4 couples and a single – the house has ample space. Reception rooms are spacious and can easily accommodate small gatherings of friends. Antiques and paintings furnish 5 comfortable bedrooms laid out to provide guests with old world comfort and modern amenities. This house is unique. It is set beautifully in a dramatic landscape and is among just a handful of farms just 15 kilometres from the centre of Cape Town. Park in the entrance court and enter a house that marries all of the style of another era to the comforts of 21st-century living.
Guest Interaction
The house is staffed with two full-time housekeepers who tend to all cleaning and laundry, and are able to help in the kitchen. Our concierge service can assist with any light errands you may have, from arranging bookings for excursions and restaurants to hiring a chef for more formal dinners (at additional cost).
The Neighbourhood
Cape Town is a city blessed with spectacular surroundings and a superb climate, offering a range of experiences and activities. Straddling a peninsula at the tip of the continent, its districts and suburbs, part urban and part country, flank a majestic mountain range that creates a 50km-long backbone running from the Cape of Good Hope in the south to Table Mountain in the north. This unique property, with its bird’s-eye-view down the vineyard-filled Constantia Valley all the way to False Bay and the beaches at Muizenberg and St James, and backing onto the Constantiaberg mountain, is nestled at the foot of the mountain range.
The house is situated in the heart of the Constantia winelands so a day or two of wine tasting is suggested, as is eating out at a nearby first-class restaurant like Beau Constantia or La Colombe. Muizenberg beach, with its warm water is close by, so are little Edwardian hotspots St James and Kalk Bay with their tidal pools and low-key restaurants. Simonstown offers historic buildings, a reserve of endangered penguins and really great fish ‘n chips. Cape Point and its nature reserve is further along the coast; unspoiled and filled with wildlife while Cape Town centre city is only 20 minutes away.
